This is a whole campaign for a lecture series in which multiple designers, both living and dead,
would attend and speak. The event would be called “You are here”. In this project I assumed
the role as the designer Alexander Rodchenko, an early designer of the Constructivist era.
The thought behind the event was that you would be surrounded by all of these great minds and
soaking up all of their knowledge. The logo represents this by both the title and the image. You
are represented as the name in the center and around you are the names of all the designers.
The image also semi represents an auditorium.
The newspaper ad is an advertisement for Rodchenko’s presentation. He would be speaking
about what design should really be used for and why you are doing it. “Design for a Purpose”
would be his tag. I felt like military images got his point across as well. The military has set
purposes and is very regimented and organized like Rodchenko’s design. The ad provides
good hierarchy, and the arrows lead you through the piece, to the dramatic gasmask
military image.
The CD would be passed out at the lecture and takes cues from the propaganda side of design.
These showed off his ideals of bold letters, usage of color and photomontage. Within the CD
case would be a fold out poster that continues showing his ideals and even lays out the outline
for the lecture he presented.
